TASTINGS
EXPERIENCE CHOCOLATE 1
Sample a delectable variety of chocolates while learning about cocoa growing regions, bean-to-bar chocolate production, the hallmarks of fine chocolate, and how chocolate has evolved over the centuries. After your tasting experience, you will never look at chocolate the same way again.
CHOCOLATE EMPIRES
The Industrial Age brought about a rapid boom in chocolate production. Fortunes were won as world-famous brands were established. Competition amongst firms was intense. Fry, Cadbury, Hershey, Mars, Nestle, Lindt, Rowntree - the names of these empires are all familiar. Learn about their colourful history while enjoying Guild Chocolate confections that have been inspired by these brands' signature creations.
THE HISTORY OF AFTERNOON TEA
It's teatime! Learn about tea and how it transformed into a posh indulgence of culinary delights. Guild Chocolates' interpretation of Afternoon Tea will include samples of various teas, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and petits fours.
THE TITANIC'S FINAL DESSERTS
The Edwardian Era was a period of decadence and luxury. While the ruling elite tried to solidify their power and maintain their extravagant lifestyles, the winds of change were afoot as the working classes began to challenge landed privilege. In 1912, Great Britain was the most powerful nation in the world, and The Titanic was the largest ship on water. At this tasting, you will learn about the Edwardians and sample all of the desserts served on the Titanic during its final night afloat.
CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS: SWEET ENDINGS
Indulge in the desserts of the Festive Season as Chef Jaclyn explores the origins of Christmas Pudding, Buche de Noel, Stollen, Speculaas, (and more!) and how they came to be celebrated at the holiday table.
DICKENS
It was the best of times; it was the worst of times...it was the Victorian times! Charles Dickens focused his lens on the radical changes of 19th Century England and used food to illustrate prosperity and despair, good and evil, and chaos and happiness. During this tasting, we will navigate the Victorian era through many of the (sweet) culinary delights mentioned in the writings of England's greatest novelist.
(A familiarity with Dickens' novels is not a pre-requisite for this tasting)
